My amazing mother-in-law passed in 2006 when my girls were 6 and 4. Over the years, my family has made a conscious effort to keep her alive in the hearts of her grandchildren. She loved holidays and her sets of holiday dishes. Although we didn't keep her Christmas dishes, I still use the fall ones!

For Christmas this year, my sister-in-law bought each of my girls one plate of the Christmas pattern (from eBay) to use as a serving dish and sent off another plate to an artist on Etsy to have jewelry made for all of us. When I broke one of the fall salad plates, I sent that one off too. We all love our jewelry pieces, especially because they bring "Mommo" to mind every time we wear them.

When I owned the store, consignors were constantly bringing in "grandma's china." I know young adults today don't necessarily want a set of china, but there are great ways to keep and use one piece. The last picture shows how a saved plate can also make a special piece of wall art.

I worked with your mother in law years ago. I was an office aid at McDowell High School.

What a great idea! And I agree that your mother-in-law was one fantastic person.

Love this idea! Thanks for sharing.

Lovely and thoughtful idea! 🙏😍

Perfect!

Now that's a fabulous idea and I'm going to pass it along to our consignors who walk in hoping for someone or way to love the family china. Can you share the website for the jewelry maker?

What a great idea .

What a wonderful idea..I'll keep it in mind. (Hello Claudine)

Love the jewelry, what a great idea!

Who is the artist on Etsy please?

Claudine do you follow the beautiful table settings page on Facebook? I do! It’s such fun!

Also you can get replacement pieces on replacements.com. I got a few pieces there from my Moms 1942 Lenox china. You can also sell there. What a great way to remember Mary!

Great idea

Their beautiful!

What a special way to remember your MIL & the children’s Gramma. 🥰

My grandmother's china. Meito Mei 1027. Bought at Marshall Fields in Chicago. I bought a China hutch to store it.
